Product Description This Electronic Cat Feeder is Super Feed's base model. This particular package comes with a 24-hr timer for up to at least 24 daily feed cycles (TIMER STYLE MAY VARY). It can also be operated at programmed times with any other plug-in timer like lamp timers or even home automation systems. For stability, we commend that it be mounted to a 2x4 to a wall, or a custom wood mount of your own like many customers have done. The supplied bracket fits perfectly to a 2x4. This Super Feeder is also available with a dedicated sturdy black ABS plastic stand, timer and stainless steel bowl here at Amazon. You can make a very simple stand as shown here by some customers. For outdoors use, you must protect it appropriately and securely mount it, especially with raccoons around! You can even use a gutter to direct the food where you want and protect the chute opening from pests (see pic. here). It will feed from just a few bits of food up to several cups per day with as many feed cycles available as your remote timer has on-off cycles. This "basic" feeder holds a Quart and 3/4 Cup of dry cat food (4 and 3/4 cups by volume). Extra clear 2-cup extensions and a large stackable 1.5 gallon hopper is also available from Super Feed later if you want to increase its capacity, or you may purchase the larger model (CSF-3XL) also listed on Amazon. You pre-adjust the feeder's own internal electronic feed-time system to control the length of time it feeds. Easy to operate and very dependable system! Just push a small non-removable trip-tab on the supplied timer's dial for each time you want to feed. That's it! Furthermore, if you have a real food motivated "locksmith" type cat, Super Feed has an optional clear chute cover available that can be easily installed and will definitely put a stop to scratching, biting and sticking paws into the chute. It it normally not needed, but it is available from the factory, should you ever need it later.

The best automatic cat feeder on the market February 15, 2007 coyote (Texas) 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
First things first - I LOVE this machine. You should buy it if your cat (or small dog) is anything like my crazy creature. Below is my detailed thoughts of why.
A little background on my cat - so that you know why I needed this machine. My cat used to be fat, really fat. After her brother died, we were more able to control her portion size and so she began loosing weight. She was very much not happy about this and would cry for HOURS prior to meal time. We never gave into her, but she never gave up either. She is the type that would get into the cabinet with the pet food, so we put baby locks on the doors. She eats chips out of bags and harrases you during meals (I swear we never feed her then). I think she may be crazy.
We had tried one of the other automatic cat feeders that we had bought at a garage sale. It worked OK, but she was able to knock it off of the counter on weekends when we were gone, thus allowing all of the food to scatter where she could get to it.
This feeder is different. First, it's made in Texas. When I was thinking about ordering one, I called on a Sunday afternoon thinking that I would just leave a message. The owner picked up the phone and answered all of my questions. I ordered on line and it arrived within 2 days (but I only live 3 hours away from where he makes them at). The owner also likes to respond to questions by email and was happy to answer all of my pidly questions.
There is a premade stand available to mount this on if you happen to feed indoors in the kitchen like I do. However, if you are at all handy, a stand can be easily made. We made one out of a 12 inch square old cutting board, a 12 inch tile, a 2x4 and an L bracket to attatch it all together. A bit of spray paint for the wood and some glue to mount the tile onto the cutting board (it is really for making it heavier so that the stand is harder to tip over) and I have a pretty, cheap stand. Most of the supplies are available at Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. For a bowl, we used an small oval pyrex dish and mounted it onto the tile with self stick velcro. It's removable to wash and yet isn't moving around the stand (or off of the stand) as she tries to break in to the feeder.
I do have a couple of small quibles about the design... The mechanism for determining how much food to dispense at once it a bit fiddly, but not hard and once it's set, never needs to be changed. My only real complaint with the design is that the screw used to close the lid on top of the food column is little... I wish that it were bigger so that I didn't need a screw driver every time I need to refill it. BUT - it is great that it is screwed on - because otherwise the cat would be into it.
My only other complaint is that the quality control where the machines are assembled is not perfect. We, of course, got the one machine without the mechanism in it to make the food dispense. He stated that it was the only one out of a batch of 50 that they assembled... so bad odds, but still there. When we called, again on a Sunday and again the owner answered, he was very appologetic and sent the next day the needed part and instructions on how to put it in. Not that big of deal really and the issue was quickly and pleasantly resolved.
I do LOVE this machine. First, it works. Once the food volume was set, it has gone off without a hitch every time. I do feed a food with little pieces (Wellness Cat Food) and not had a problem at all with that. Second - my very food aggressive kitty has not yet figured out how to break into the unit. I did add the food guard (available off of the company site for $5) as a back up to keep her out - I'm not sure that it was needed. Third - my cat has learned that the sound of the machine means meal time. She is SLOWLY learning that I have nothing to do with food at this point and the incesant meowing is slowing down. I've only had the machine for 2 weeks, so I hope that will continue to lessen as time progresses.
Overall, this is a wonderful machine that is well made in the USA by a small company who actually seems to care. It is a bit more than the other feeders, but as they don't work nearly as well, they are not worth the money. If only the owner could figure out how to make it fire ant proof, we would get one for the out side kitty, too!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2BH2XQ78KVNK0 Simple demo of the feeder. You would normally have it on a timer (it does not have a timer built-in, but any timer will work; I use a programmable timer which can feed up to 6 times per day). Note: I have mounted the super feeder to a mounting "platform" (the white wooden thing in the video) that you can purchase separately (or as part of a package, I believe) from super feeder - see their web site. Alternatively, if you're handy you could easily build your own from a 2x4 and some plywood.
Outstanding product, outstanding service September 4, 2007 Music Lover 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I haven't purchased a product that I am this excited about in years. I was looking for an automatic feeder for my cat and quickly realized that there are no quality products that feed multiple times a day. The super feeder is a foolproof system that will essentially feed my cat as many times daily as I want with a specified quantity of food. The hopper is so large that I can go over a week without filling it. Since the super feeder arrived, I have begun feeding my cat 4x daily instead of a larger portion of food 2x daily. He has lost a little weight and the best part is that he doesn't bother me to get up and feed him or cry incessantly when I get home (annoying!). Although the product is durable, sturdy, and trustworthy, I am happy to say that there is incredible service standing behind the product. I had some questions about the feeder and called the customer service line on 2 occasions (one was even on a Saturday!). The owner of the company fully answered my questions and was a joy to talk with. It was a breath of fresh air to talk with a small business owner who makes a uniquely fabulous product.
My 2001 super feed model is still working great! February 21, 2008 A. Laine (San Diego) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought the equivalent of the CSF back in 2001, and it's still going strong in 2008. I made my own mount and hooked it up to the timer I wanted to use. It kept my overweight cat from bugging me for food, since the superfeeder was now his source for food. It helped my cat lose weight so that his food could be distributed in smaller meals throughout the day. I am so grateful for the feeder's design and reliability. The business owner, Gerard, of this great product, gives top notch service, excellent instructions for the feeder's use, and a wonderful product that he makes improvements to as added benefits. When a friend of mine needed a feeder for his cats, I bought the CSF model in 2007 which had some improvements over the model I have, and it works great too. Gerard put a small half cover on the front of the CSF feeder because I let him know that one of the cats was crafty at getting her paw up into the feeder. That kept the cat from getting food out by shoving her paw up the dispenser shaft. The most the cat can now do is body slam the feeder and shake out a piece or two of kibble. I would highly recommend this product.
Excellent cat feeder - well designed and well built July 12, 2008 OhioBob 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I first tried the LeBistro feeder, mainly attracted by the lower price. It didn't work out, as discussed in my review of that feeder elsewhere here on Amazon. I ordered a Super-Feeder CSF-3 to replace the LeBistro. The CSF-3 has not disappointed. Compared to the LeBistro, the Super-Feeder is a bit more complex to assemble and set up, but still acceptably fast and easy to do. Most importantly, the Super-Feeder is an exceptionally well designed and thought out product. It also seems to be first class in its materials of construction. If something does break, the company sells a full complement of replacement parts at reasonable prices on its web site. As far as performance, it simply couldn't be better. It consistently dispenses cat food in the exact tiny amounts I set (about one-tenth cup per feeding) and at the exact times I set. The unit is very flexible with a large range of settings in selecting feeding amounts, and so far completely reliable, and I see no reason for this to change as time passes, based on the top-notch quality of design and construction. The best way to summarize my thoughts about the difference between the LeBistro and the Super-Feeder units is that the LeBistro seems to be a typical commercial quality product (with some significant negatives), while the Super-Feeder is an industrial quality product that works. Based on my initial impression and one week experience, I highly recommend the Super-Feeder CSF-3. It is worth the extra cost.
